EA patients on the job and at school: Not surprisingly, the eating difficulties and recurring respiratory infections do compound to create a variety of social complications for EA patients. The survey sought to understand more of this and so directed the respondents to tell us more about their experience sending their EA child to school, or how EA adults cope in the professional world. The big take-away from the chart above is that of the 212 respondents who provided us detail on this question, just one-third said that the EA condition has had no impact on their professional or educational experience. More than one in five told us it has a “significant” impact. Not surprisingly, this has an impact for parents and caretakers as well, as the chart below reveals:
