The TOF book

2 January 2020

Most parents and families have never heard of oesophageal atresia (OA) or tracheo-oesophageal fistula (TOF).  Health professionals will try their best to explain the conditioon and the potential consequences for the child but conversations undertaken on the ward or in the clinic may be difficult for a family to absorb.

This is where this book comes into its own. It is written in a language that parents and families, and the children themselves as they get older, can comprehend – and is superbly illustrated.

This book helps parents and children understant the reasons for the problems that may exist and how they may explained to others involved with the child at school and socially.

This is a book that should be in the home of every TOF child. It is also an invaluable book for all health professionals involved in the care of children with OA/TOF, and should be mandatory reading for surgeons training in children’s surgery.
