The KEKS house

29 May 2013

Since December 2012, the KEKS House in Stuttgart Sommerrain has been completed and “put into operation”.

KEKS families can meet here when they simply need time away from their daily chores with their ill child. Together we attempt to find an individual solution to their problems and difficulties. By having specialist child care, this helps the relocation to be easier and can recharge your batteries much faster. The KEKS House is the place to stay if their children are in the hospital, in order to simply keep costs as low as possible or you can just simply drop by for a cup of coffee. Everyone at the KEKS House has a sympathetic ear and can help, advise and mediate, if there are any problems or to share the joy of good news.

Also, when Youth Week ends, the young people feel they have had so much fun and it gives them self-confidence and self-worth, to have found a place in the KEKS House.

The house contains the main KEKS administration office and 6 guest rooms with a total of 15 beds, 1 cot and 2 children’s travel beds for all cases.

Our rooms are named after colours.
The Red Room offers 1 double bed, 1 child’s bed, 1 wardrobe and 1 changing mat.

The Yellow Room has 1 double bed, 1 wardrobe and 1 changing mat.

The Blue Room has 2 single beds, 1 bunk bed with 2 beds and 1 wardrobe.

The Green Room offers 2 single beds and 1 wardrobe.

The Purple Room offers 1 double bed, 1 wardrobe and 1 desk (currently assigned to our students).

The Orange Room offers 1 single bed and 1 wardrobe (currently occupied).
On the first Floor is also a conference room that offers ample space for seminars, courses and events.

Facilities include wall flipcharts and a projector. Internet connections are available. There are also 20 chairs and 10 tables available offering ample seating.
Downstairs there is a large family room with a nice play area, a large sofa and TV for cozy evenings, a kitchen and a large dining area.

Families who also have to stay for a long time in the KEKS House have the opportunity to use the washing machine and dryer in the basement.
For leisure there is a football table in the basement, a ping pong table in the garden and a play area with a seesaw, a sandpit and a carousel.

In summer there is also the possibility of a barbecue in the garden if the weather is fine. Some nice children’s playgrounds can also be found in the nearby area.

On the second floor, we have created a comfortable Info Lounge. Located there is information materials about KEKS, other interesting reading materials and a comfortable sofa for you to relax on.

There is also a computer that can be used by our guests.

The KEKS House has very good transport links. Directly in front of the house is a bus stop and a 5-minute walk away is the S-Bahn stop.

Similarly a short walk away is the underground line U2 which goes directly to Olga Hospital. From there it is a 5-minute walk to the station in Stuttgart.

Parking is also available at the front of the house.
