A medical glossary for esophageal atresia

28 September 2020

The French Association of Esophageal Atresia (AFAO) is proud to publish its 1st medical glossary of esophageal atresia in French, produced by Emma Giraudier under the direction of Ms. Pascaline Dury, professor of universities .

The result is this small booklet of 37 terminology files in French, accompanied by an appendix made up of 6 conceptual diagrams showing the different terms of the glossary. These conceptual diagrams cover different aspects of the disease: anatomical manifestations, signs, complications, associated abnormalities, procedures and examinations for atresia of the esophagus, and artificial nutrition in the management of this pathology.

AFAO and her families sincerely thank Ms. Emma Giraudier for the work accomplished. We are convinced that the simple and quickly understandable presentation of the terms in this glossary will help, support and inform families affected by esophageal atresia, who will gain a better understanding of the different aspects of the disease.

This achievement is part of Ms. Giraudier’s end-of-studies work, for the “Master of international communication in health sciences: translation, writing, documentation”, department of applied foreign languages, Université Lumière Lyon 2, class of 2019 -2020.
