The “Fourth International Conference on Oesophageal Atresia” will be held in Sydney on September 15-16th, 2016.
As chair of the local organising committee I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of you.
The theme of the conference is “Coming Together” of clinicians, academics, researchers and patient advocates from around the world to connect, learn and network in our beautiful harbour city. We hope the conference program will lead to an improved understanding of oesophageal atresia, inspire solutions for pressing challenges in the field and lead to the development of innovative approaches and help establish a well-defined evidence based standard of care for oesophageal atresia.
We hope that by hosting the conference in Sydney in 2016, we will help establish INoEA, the international network on esophageal atresia which was established in 2013 into a truly international network with a new delegate base in the Asia pacific and enhance international collaboration in this field.
The conference will showcase up to date information and feature many of the regions and world’s leading researchers and clinicians in the field of oesophageal atresia. The two day scientific program will provide a wide range of forums for the attendees to hear about new developments in the field, present their work; meet with colleagues and to forge new collaborative partnerships.
I encourage you to attend the conference and take advantage of your visit to Australia to explore not only Sydney and the region of New South Wales but the whole of Australia. Sydney is known for its perfect spring weather in September, beautiful beaches, fabulous scenery and the iconic harbour bridge and opera house. You can climb the Sydney harbour bridge, shop in the historic Rocks precinct, explore the world’s second oldest national park, enjoy dining in restaurants with a dynamic cuisine while enjoying sensational views or even see an opera under the famous white sails. The region of New South Wales offers a range of experiences including wineries, whale watching, white sandy beaches, farm steads and bushwalking all with a few hours of Sydney. Australia has amazing cities, captivating landscapes and unique experiences including Ayers Rock, Kakadu National Park and the Great Barrier Reef for you and your families to discover and enjoy.
We look forward to seeing you and sharing with you some of the many hidden gems of our harbour city during your visit to Australia in September 2016.
I hope you will save the date and join us in Sydney in 2016!
